We are setting up a charity to help children aged 3 to 7 learn letters, sounds and numbers through play, at home and in nursery, at no cost to families.
Nestling Learning Charity is applying to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). We are not yet registered with the Charity Commission and do not have a charity number. We are not asking for donations.
For grown-ups
Try each activity yourself, then share it with your child. All of them are free, with no sign-up.
Add the free activities to your home screen. They open with no address bar and no tabs, on children's activities only, so little fingers don't wander onto other websites. Free, no app store, no sign-up.

This app's own browser can't add pages to your home screen. Tap the ••• menu, then Open in Safari, and tap Add to home screen there.
A web page can't stop the home button. Your phone can: Guided Access on iPhone and iPad (Settings, Accessibility) or App pinning on Android (Settings, Security). It keeps your child in the one app until you unlock it.
The home-screen app is provided by our sister organisation, Nestling Studios Ltd, and shows only the free children's activities.

Where we are
Every step below is about reaching more families. The charity's only aim is public benefit: free early learning for children who might otherwise miss out.
We are recruiting at least three trustees, including a treasurer and an early years specialist, all independent of Nestling Studios Ltd.
Apply as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) for England and Wales.
Host the free activities on this site under a royalty-free licence, with clear arm's-length terms and a conflict of interest policy overseen by the independent trustees.
Apply for free search advertising for charities, and work with nurseries, libraries and Family Hubs to share the activities.
Our early years trustee will support and review our activities.
Openness
Nestling Studios Ltd is a certified social enterprise and a member of Social Enterprise UK. It is a company registered in England and Wales (No. 17093947). It makes Nestling Quest, which includes the free activities on this page.
The idea for Nestling Learning came from the founder of Nestling Studios Ltd. We are looking to set up the charity with the help of volunteers and trustees. To keep the two organisations separate, our founder will not be a trustee, and the charity will be run by trustees who are independent of the company. It will have a conflict of interest policy and a written licence for the activities, both overseen by the trustees.
Nestling Studios Ltd has pledged to give 10% of its yearly profit before tax to the charity, once the charity is registered. The company is at an early stage, so we expect these donations to start small.
Volunteer roles
Both roles are unpaid, about 4 to 8 hours a month, with remote meetings on weekday evenings or weekends. Trustees do not work directly with children.
Help us make sure every activity is good for young children's learning.
Set up sound financial controls as we register the charity.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, especially people from groups under-represented on charity boards and from the communities we serve. Appointment is subject to a Charity Commission trustee eligibility declaration. Initial term of three years.
To apply for a trustee role, send your CV and a short note. For anything else, just say hello.
